I did not know that the hyperbolic and elliptical paths of a item released from its tether to a planet are separated by a single parabola rather than a (parametric) region of parabolic paths. Same for the circle between various kinds of ellipses. Terrific! Just in time for the review of parametric curves I'm planning for my students.

Elevators for transfers between moons is a brilliant idea, I look forward to seeing that tucked into some sci fi novels. The checkerboard diagram doubles as one of those illusory motion patterns too.
