I Want Willy. W-I-L-L-Y

Presented without ambient sound, the video plays out against a slow, deliberate marimba-based soundtrack. The Duke of Cambridge can be seen forming a large soap bubble. Princess Charlotte pets a rabbit. And Prince George, bubble-gun in hand, stalks the party with his now famous look of toddler-y disinterest. Canada just funded a strange, grey-toned video thanking itself.

I thought for sure this was just overblown but I watched the thing and yes, short of resoundtracking it with Popol Vuh I have a hard time seeing how it could be creepier.

This needs an appropriate Boards of Canada soundtrack.

This is like that movie with Nicole Kidman, where everyone is a ghost, right?

They clearly made the video themselves rather than enlisting the help of a pro. As shape-shifting reptilian entities they have zero creative ability and aesthetic awareness - as David Icke rightfully puts it, 'they are dead inside'. And no, I'm not joking.

Perhaps something with Bruce McCulloch and sausages?

i guess it's the same with celebrities, but crikey, how can these people stand being under the eye of the media all the damn time. and it's not just that - it's that they're waiting for a screw-up. they want to see the kids act childish. they want to see the parents be stern. they want to see less-than-perfection so that they can report it as trash. heaven-forbid that the kids become stinky and sweaty like my kid is 23 hours a day. and imagine the cameras caught one of the parents scolding the kids?

i don't have any affinity for royalty and i'm all for calling out bad behaviour of the upper-class living off the public dime (i.e. royalty, politicians), but how messed up of an individual do you have to be to take pleasure in gleefully watching someone get tarnished the way these people do?

did anyone actually have fun at that party? will and kate? the royal babbys? the other families who looked like they were dressed for an 18th century afternoon tea, and not a kids party? they all looked stressed and like they were walking on eggshells.

sometimes i'm so grateful i'm practically invisible to the world! at least i can be myself without anyone judging me.

The music isn’t quite so weird if you speed it up a bit.

As far as a Benny Hill reboot goes, this was not what I was expecting.

No, the creepy part is that the socks actually stayed up. That's nigh-on supernatural.

This is a viral video for some new horror or post-apocalyptic action flick, right? Like, the next scene is Kate looking up in surprise as the nuclear holocaust starts ala the dream sequence in Terminator 2?

If Canadian Heritage made this, it looks like they forgot Trudeau's "sunny ways".

This weekend will be the first Canadian thanksgiving I've celebrated for many years. I'm from the UK, a Canadian citizen, used to live in the US, and was married to an American, and had at least half absorbed my ex's barely concealed mixture of friendly disdain and occasional envy towards Canada. I still have some things to work out regarding my feelings towards all three countries that have been my home. This video combined with the election season is not making that task any less confusing.

It seems pretty clear that the video was exported at the wrong speed, though it is strange that they haven't fixed it.

Just remember that Canada features the best aspects of the UK and the US, and you'll be fine.

I didn't find it creepy at all. It was quite enriching, albeit poignant. A tear or two may have streamed down my grime encrusted cheek.

I'm going to crawl out into the grey ashen rain now and hunt for rats among the rubble. I may be some time.

In Death It Ends create really great soundtracks to go along with your demon-haunted realistic-lifeforms home movies.
