There is significant body of research (a recent example here) indicating that the late multi-billionaire Maharishi Yogi’s trademarked Transcendental Meditation ‘technique’ is beneficial for prisoners and children and people suffering PSD. I don't doubt that there are benefits to learning ways to slow down your brain but you don’t need a bunch of mumbo jumbo to go with it, and you certainly don’t need to spend a lot of money to learn how to do it. Any simple form of meditation would give you exactly the same results. For example here are the notes I used when I did meditation with cancer patients as a secular pastoral worker - but if you want to know how to use their ’technique’ this guy keeps getting banned from YouTube for explaining how to do it, when the TM™ lawyers threaten to sue.

TM™ is a front for a power hungry pseudo-Hindu cult (which is also a profit making machine consisting of “charitable organisations, for-profit businesses, and real estate investments whose total value has been estimated at various times, to range from US$2 to US$5 billion. The real estate alone was valued in 2003 at between $3.6 and $5 billion. Holdings in the United States, estimated at $250 million in 2008, include dozens of hotels, commercial buildings and undeveloped land.” - Wikipedia) which puts an enormous amount of work in spreading its expensive trademarked ‘technique’ and people like John Malkovich and Paul McCartney are helping raise money for the David Lynch Foundation, all of which ends up in the Maharishi’s already overflowing coffers.
