Recognition is an artificial intelligence program that compares up-to-the-minute photojournalism with British art from the Tate collection.

This is a cool idea. However, I found some of the juxtapositions it generated deeply tasteless -- another instance of algorithmic cruelty.

It's very interesting how it's attempting to both categorize items from the images, and then compare across categories, both of which are somewhat fuzzy.

That leads to this image attempting to tell us that it's comperable in that in one image someone wears pants, and in the next someone wears shoes.

On a second look, the tags are quite suspect. Literally every tag on the second image looks to be incorrect.
