Folks in this thread might enjoy the episode of the Into It podcast about Stranger Things that went up a couple of weeks ago. In particular they discuss the idea that Barb is queer and thus her dying becomes even more stereotypical of 80s pop culture, for better or for worse.

OK, I wanted to not like this because I'm cranky, but darn if the Schroeder kid playing the theme song on his toy piano didn't make me like it in spite of myself.
