Daft Science. Toronto producer Coins (bandcamp; facebook; twitter) made an album of Beastie Boys remixes using only Daft Punk samples. All eight resulting tracks are stream- or downloadable for free. (via Dancing Astronaut)

I look forward to this. Does my man Guy-Manuel have a beard like a billy goat? No-one knows.

Fantastic. Really well done. I just forwarded the link to like 10 people. I see this blowing up.

Since there's going to be no new Beastie Boys albums anymore, this is welcome.

I just wish I could buy it.

Gave them my email before I even streamed any of it because I was that sure I'd want the download

Still rocking my Beatles vs. Wu Tang Clan - I like these sometimes.

I just wish I could buy it.

Samples-of-samples is a precarious enough legal situation without bringing money into it.

Yeah, I like this because.. (confession time) I don't much like most of Daft Punk's middle era. The popular stuff, sure fine, but everything else has felt like I was trying to listen to something intended for DJs to massage into something more listenable.

(hell, Musique should've been the first hint, right?)

Also, for anyone interested, here is a good mashup of Intergalactic Planetary and Robot Rock.

I'm not familiar enough with Daft Punk to distinguish, but is it just one Daft Punk song sampled for each song? And is there a list somewhere of which Daft Punk song(s) is used for each track? This is awesome!

I'm genuinely smiling for what may be the first time all week. THIS IS AMAZAZING

I have forgiven the universe for all the things, because it contains this, and this is beautiful.

No, I'm hearing several.

Thank you for this bright spot in my dark day. I'm more familiar with Daft Punk than The Beastie Boys (even though I'm an old lady) and I'm also a huge Girl Talk fan so this is right up my alley. :)

Damn, 4ster. That Intergalactic/Robot Rock mash-up caused me to spontaneously jump up. and dance.

HELL YEAH

Well It's 50 cups of coffee and you know it's on
I move the crowd to the break of break of dawn
Can't rock the house without the party people
'Cause when we're getting' down we are all equal
There's no better or worse between you and me

Words of wisdom in these troubled times, y'all. Thanks for sharing, Ufez Jones. This is making me so happy.

I love how the comparatively-minimalist Daft Punk samples really showcase the Beastie Boys' vocals.

I see this blowing up.

According to the Bandcamp page, it was released on July 1, 2014, so it clearly hasn't yet. (I agree it's pretty great!)

I usually find mashups kind of gimmicky, but these are amazing.
