So a comedian and a hatemonger are sitting next to each other on a plane

It sounds like the start of a joke: Arab-American standup comedian Mohammed Amer is bumped up to first-class on a flight to Scotland, where he is then seated next to none other than Eric Trump. “So when I walked into the plane I was like, ‘What is this?’ This is obviously from Allah – Allah is just trying to hook me up right now. That’s what’s happening.” And they talk for 30 minutes and take an instagram selfie before Eric falls asleep. The end.

This post was deleted for the following reason: Better to add this to the current ongoing discussion about election results, Trumps, etc. Thanks! -- taz

1. That sweater and tie
2. "Amer, who lives in New York but grew up in Houston, said he had not voted in the election but would have voted if Bernie Sanders was on the ticket." Thanks for being so concerned about the situation but not actually doing anything to prevent it (it's reasonable to assume that if he didn't vote, he also didn't phonebank or canvass or donate money or otherwise do anything to support Clinton or get people to vote for her). I get that you're in New York, but come on.

...it's reasonable to assume that if he didn't vote, he also didn't phonebank or canvass or donate money or otherwise do anything to support Clinton or get people to vote for her...

...To get people to vote for her...and if one didn't do that by terms (it's reasonable to assume) you assert are significant in their impact, then...what?

He doesn't get a pass? He's part of the problem? Giving it attention is?

Litmus tests, bars, thresholds, anything that smacks of floating point partisan discrimination is problematic for me. Not for you because "...come on" is a conversational marker of a thrust in lieu of an argument and that's how things can go on MetaFilter and I cherish that, but I will assert this is a text based and anonymous community and conversational markers that do so well in a bar or coffee shop aren't as useful.

Thanks for being so concerned [...] but come on.

A lot of people didn't vote for Clinton but hated Trump. A lot. That's already happened. Hard snarking and blaming other people for how they didn't vote, or didn't vote for Clinton isn't going to get you very far to a retroactive solution, so ... 'come on'.
