Just pray you aren't involved in a car accident the day you choose to wear them.

When they told you at school that "on the bridge in Avignon people dance around & around"
THAT was crazy enough to be true

There is something about the combination of lace and a hairy butt that just doesn't appeal to me. Maybe it is the hairs that stick through the lace. I dunno.

I can't die I'm wearing MANties!!

The ultimate survival motivator.

That would go nicely with a mansierre.

Or is it a bro?

A failure. Men who wear panties do it because they're wearing women's panties. There would be no allure, and possibly could be quite the opposite reaction, to wearing frilly underwear designed for men. The manufacturer misses the point.

A joke that is probably not a bad idea in actuality. I don't think it does miss the point in the same way that there are now frangrances for men and makeup for men is considered a potentially large unserved market. Its creepy as all get out (to me), but there are plenty of guys that like to "dress up". The fact that they are "made for men" would legitimate this urge. In the car accident scenario the doctor would say "ohmigod, you're wearing panties", and the guy would say "no - you don't understand. I would never wear panties, these are manties!"

I'm waiting for the incense-scented praying manties, in cardinal red, so the pantie-wearing females can eat me.

Reminds me of one of my better verbal missteps. I was wearing a pair of boxers my girlfriend had bought for me. I was talking to her on the phone and just before we hung up I said, "Oh yeah, I'm wearing your underwear."

She let me know that that was just a little kinkier than she was prepared to get.

Panties for men have been around for ages. I used to find it quite embarrassing when I would read a fitness magazine at a bookstore like Chapters (where you used to be able to sit down and read) and there would be an beefcake ad for thongs on the back cover which everyone could see. Of course in a fit of literal honesty they called them 'briefs'.

You can also wear pantyhose for men.

they say that women buy most of the underwear for their men, so ladies, dont get any ideas.

Men in skirts; me likee.

Men in satin manties with the days of the week embroidered on them; me dislikee.

You know, the reason I like pants, and all clothes that are starchy and not baggy in any way (though not tight) is that they don't get in your way. Wearing a skirt would drive me insane.

Fleener - I think the point here is that those men don't fit right into womens panties and therefore need their own specially cut variety, although I think we're all using the term "men" rather vaguely and loosely here.

Oh no, dear Paris, I can do you one better.

Announcing: Henry Kissinger and John Goodman as the new manties spokesmodels! Says Henry: "They're comfortable and oh, so pretty!"
posted by Dreama at 11:58 AM on April 16, 2002

Can't stop laughing. Sides hurting.

What would really be awesome - to have them face off against each other on the Star Search spokesmodel competition. Ed MacMahon could wear manties, too. Ooh what fun it would be!

If you wear them with a wife-beater, do they cancel each other out? (Or will you explode?)

What? Only one cut? A traditional, butt-covering brief out of cling-to-you-on-humid-days nylon is less than appealing. Where's the French cut brief? The bikini? The g-string? (Oh wait, men can already get bikinis, g-strings and thongs in a wide assortment of materials and colors.)
Manties look like dolled up maternity undies.

Well, since boxers for women are now available; I suppose it's only fair.

Just pray you aren't involved in a car accident the day you choose to wear them.

Just FYI: In most car accidents where you're been seriously injured enough to end up in a trauma ward with the ER docs scissoring your clothing off of you, you probably blew out your bowels and bladder at the moment of impact, so you really need not worry about the "clean underwear" argument your mother always warned you about. And as for "manties," I don't think it matters what you might be wearing under your clothes; the ER people have probably seen a lot weirder.

Does it seem strange to anyone else that the makers of MANties appear to have got a bunch of seven year olds to create their embroidery designs?

OK...this goes along way toward explaining that corset thing. I'd wear a skirt for ya iconomy, but the sight of my white hairy legs in a vinyl mini would probably be considered a crime against humanity, so let's not and say we did.

That whole thread is a riot, jon - that was back before Miguel knew I was a *gasp* female ;)

Norton I love that link. Really - the picture galleries are great, if you like men in skirts. I think they're cute. I just hope to hell none of them are wearing manties under those kilts. (notice how deftly I bring the thread back to manties so as not to be accused of topic drift)

wear....under.....kilt?

I'm sorry. Do people wear anything besides lipstick under their kilt?

ariealmeadow: thanks for that link! I think it's going to be the summer of truth for me. Time to show I've got the balls to wear a skirt; and that link encourages me to do just that. Funny how boring, baiting frontpageposts like this can lead to highquality links like yours...
