Pressure on Arafat to denounce terrorism JERUSALEM (CNN) -- U.S. officials were working the telephones Tuesday, trying to get Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat to issue a clear denunciation of terrorism as Secretary of State Colin Powell continued to meet with Israeli and Palestinian leaders. Meantime, on Ap[ril 14: ASHINGTON, April 14 — Before Yasir Arafat condemned "terror against civilians" on Saturday, his wife, Suha al-Taweel Arafat, told an Arabic-language magazine that she endorsed suicide attacks as legitimate resistance against Israeli occupation. In an interview published Friday in Al Majalla, a London-based, Saudi-owned weekly, Mrs. Arafat said that if she had a son, there would be "no greater honor" than to sacrifice him for the Palestinian cause. Need for a family conference or just plain duplicity?

A couple weeks ago there was a suicide attack that killed 13 israeli soldiers -- was that terrorism too? You'd have a real hard case trying to prove that its the same -- soldiers are legitimate targets in war, no?

I bring this up, because given that you haven't given us a link for what seems to be the point of your post, so maybe Mrs. Arafat supports the kind of suicide attack mentioned above?

If you're going to press ahead with the MiddleEastFi posts, at least put a LITTLE work into them.

An interesting fact about Ms. Arafat is that she's a Christian. I don't think the Bible says anything about Martyrdom, but who knows what she thinks. She has a few daughters; I wonder why she didn't see fit to include them in her proclamations...

Oh yeh, and I don't see why we should expect Arafat to denouce "terrorism" against an invading military force rather then against Israeli civilians. That's just retarded. What do you want him to say "Just let them roll on over us, please"
