The necessity or value of a cover is a function of how well-crafted and essential the canonical recording is, how accessible that recording is, and what new insight or interpretation is possible of it.

If you use that as your thesis, Train covering Houses of the Holy in its entirety is a uniquely novel idea.

There's less and less "essential" about the AV Club these days, frankly; just witness Sean O'Neal smacking his lips at future installments from Ace Frehley so that he can mine them for future installments of this feature.
