Women who have taken the oral contraceptive pill are protected from some types of cancer for as long as thirty years according to new research from The University of Aberdeen.

i) I Get a paywall
ii) For those who have read the paper, this kind of study, unless they talk about morbidity in the same time period, is kinda meaningless from a public-health perspective. a) My lifetime risk of cancer goes down, but b) I have an increased chance of dying from a heart attack? If increased morbidity from b> is greater than reduction from a then this isn't good news.....

Ah I took it at face value from an article on the Guardian, but am not at all a scientist, apologies if I framed this wrong.
