Kim Stanley Robinson's New York 2140: To Save the City, We Drown It

Would a New York City covered in 50-feet of water be the thing that could finally destroy neoliberal capitalism? A long talk with SF master Kim Stanley Robinson about his latest book, which looks at New York City after the sea levels rise 50 feet. Haven't read the book yet, but Robinson is interesting as always — especially since the book seems to be more treatise about economics than life in a dystopian drowned city.

That seems like an odd waypoint to use, because by the point seas rise enough to put NYC under 50 feet there is going to be enormous worldwide disruption with many dead and hundreds of millions of climate refugees. It's hard to see why NYC and 50 feet would be a particular tipping point.
