I love this. But I have to admit that deep down, I believe that after the camera stops filming, her next words are "HI! HI MANHOLE! I LOVE YOU MANHOLE!" and that the only reason they stopped filming is so they could be ready to circumvent her next hugging impulse.

And what haunts me, is that in all the faces of all the robots that Rayna ever hugged, I discover no kinship, no understanding, no mercy. I see only the overwhelming indifference of metal. To me, there is no such thing as a secret world of the robots . And this blank stare speaks only of a half-bored interest in computation. But for Rayna, this robot was a friend, a savior.

This is why people have kids. Yes, there's dirty diapers, staying up all night with fevers, getting vomited on, shuttling them all over town, losing all your friends, never having sex with your spouse again, hundreds of thousands of dollars over 18 years, endless fights over who stole whose toys, a million boo-boos that need a kiss and a bandaid...
Then one day your kid says "I wuv you wobot" and you realize it was all...well, it was probably a wash in the end...but you savor these moments and hey, you helped the species survive.
