Ancient History Encyclopedia

Ancient History Encyclopedia has been slowly but surely expanding since 2009. Besides the thousands of entries on various historical places, people and topics, there is a timeline search as well as maps. There's so much to check out you might as well just click random and see what you get (I got Lasus of Hermione, A Visual Glossary of Hindu Architecture and Samguk Sagi).

Why would you do this to me? I have a demanding job. You heartless bastard.

But really, thanks. Random is amazing.

This is great, because I don't know any history and am therefore (according to accepted wisdom) doomed to repeat it. Now I have this handy guide to precisely what I'll be repeating, e.g. ... *clicks link* ... Aztec human sacrifice? Oh well ... guess I best get some obsidian, then. And a competent defence attorney. Great post!

Man, I love this so much.

Reminds me of when I stumbled on Encyclopedia Mythica. Which hasn't been updated since 2009.

I have a bone to pick with George Santayana. History has repeated (and in some cases keeps repeating) in places like Germany, the Balkans, South Asia, Rwanda and Burundi, and so on specifically because people there won't forget their history.
