It did not recognize my drawing of a penis with spunk coming out of it. Not impressed.

Here's my drawing (shut up, it's not easy to draw with a mouse, okay?). Autodraw suggests it's either a frog, a polar bear, a bird, or a koala. Apparently my drawing resembles a fairly impressive array of animal classes! *preen* :P

Google thought my Dalek was the Eiffel Tower!

Is there name for the tendency for people (well, mainly men boys I guess) to, when given a blank canvas for drawing, instinctively draw a cock?

Google thought my Dalek was the Eiffel Tower!

"Eiffel Tower turns out to be a giant Dalek" sounds like a legit Dr Who plot.

Not that I know of, but in video game development you have the term TTP - Time To Penis. Basically, how long will it take before a user manages to create penis in your game.

On the duck/rabbit it definitely skews duck (or fish or crocodile or hand)

Every girl I grew up with did this. As do the women I live with now, come to think of it. Ours is childish home.

Boys? Boys draw boobs. Because boobs.

It thought my cat was a kangaroo :(

I misunderstood the assignment and thought it'd come up with a GIS, not clip-art. Imagine my disappointment as I drew Philip J. Fry and Google would not Shut Up and Take My Money.

It took my bull drawing, and gave me a cow with horns. And an udder. Which I didn't draw, I hasten to add.

Probably TTDB now, also

Y? Y U NOT UNDERSTAND MY ROCKET?

I drew a super kawaii bunny head and it suggested a cat and also a cactus, and honestly I can't argue with it.

I started drawing arbitrary lines with no particular goal, and it suggested a horse, and I looked at what I had drawn and realized, "Holy crap, that is a horse!" Kind of a Lascaux-cave-painting-style horse, very abstract. Pretty fun.

I drew a hypercube and my monitor disappeared.

I tried drawing a hammer three different ways and it guessed a fork each time. Or a sleeping bag. Got a sailboat quite quickly.

Thanks for posting!

I call foul. I started drawing something that looked JUST LIKE BART and at no point did it suggest a picture of Bart.

I drew a fox and it thought it was a lobster, which is in the animal kingdom and closer than most people can generally guess given my drawing skills, so well done.

I'm a big fan of David Friedman's dragon.

I had no idea that dragons had strong feelings about Mondays and lasagna.

It keeps thinking my t-rexes are giraffes. Or dragons. Or birds. So close and yet so far.

Y? Y U NOT UNDERSTAND MY ROCKET?

Ha. I tried and failed to get it to recognize a bow and arrow. Then just tried an arrow, and was surprised that I couldn't get it to recognize even the most basic drawing of an arrow. I hadn't considered it might be a TTP problem.

To test my skills of an artist, I tried drawing Trogdor. I drew an 'S' for snake...or dragon, er whatever...and then a more different 'S'.

AutoDraw guessed: "Moon? Ear?"

I closed it up real good at the top for his head.

"Bird? Snake?"

Using consummate 'V's I gave him teeth, spinities, and angry eyebrows.

"Frog? Wiener Dog? Koala Bear?"

Wings, y'know, 'cause he's a...wing-a-ling dragon.

"A dove?"

And then a beefy arm for good measure.

"Dragon!"

I drew the Western Hemisphere. Google thinks it's a bear, or maybe a cow.
posted by zompist at 2:48 PM on April 12, 2017

If you drew it sideways, Google would think it was a duck.

It thinks a bunch of diagonal crossharching is either a loaf of French bread or an aircraft carrier. Very silly.

Me: (draws a vertical line)
Google Autodraw: Did you mean, (three different pictures of horizontal lines)?

Autodraw clearly has the same personality as Google's search suggestion engine.

It said I was drawing a dove.
It was dignity! Gahh! Doesn't it even know dignity when it sees it?
