I have no idea what she said to him, but I'm reminded of something I heard someone say a long time ago that's usually the best maxim against right wing rhetoric:

"Your hate is so ...old."

I'm giving a lot of credit to the culture which made it physically safe for her to do that.

I'm not sure I'd have the confidence to do that myself. It's good to know that there are people like that who exist and who are willing to stand up for those rights.

I just don't know if I'd feel safe doing that, especially as a person of colour. That probably just speaks to my own experiences with racism, bigotry, and my not wanting to be in a position where I'm made to feel that way.

But good for her.

Czechmate, Neo-Nazis! Czechmate.

HA! That's so much better than he deserves! And it's the perfect response to these idiotic views: "I can't even be bothered with your weak-ass shit..."

I wish they hadn't named her.

This is great. But I hate the way that the footage stops right when the guy leans into her after the shrug. I trust she's okay, though, otherwise the article would be very different.

Literally the first comment on Twitter about her(translated) - what if she's a crisis actor?

what if she's a crisis actor?

That would require the neofascists admitting they are a crisis.

I must say, Neo-Nazis in the Czech republic make even less sense than in other countries, given that the Czechs suffered some of the worst and longest oppression at the hands of fascism (Lidice, etc.).
I mean in other countries, you could at least delude yourself. But in Poland and the Czech Republic? How can anybody be a nazi there?

This actually reminds me of the last time I dealt with a neo-nazi. It was literally one dude, standing by himself delivering an anti Semitic rant. * Most people ignored him. "What's with him?" I asked the nearest person, a young black guy. "He hates Jews," he said and, of course, shrugged.

* I have video on my flickr but don't have the link handy.

While I concur with the point above about Fascism seeming even more ridiculous in Czechia, one has to remember that fascists are stupid, insecure and fearful- so logic, history and reality are not their prime concerns.

It is really something how a country that is/was the most atheist country in Europe has recently had the national conversation focus on their "Christian roots" to give some cover to the right wing's dislike of Muslim immigrants.

They're all dumb enough to think that they'll be the ones purging the other idiots when the long knives come out.
