Every civilization was built off the back of a disposable workforce

With little editing, the audio from the Blade Runner 2049 trailer overlaid onto the new Google Assistant ad. (subtitles, video on Gizmodo, previously)

I was laughing at the start of this video. By the end I was not laughing and considering hiding in the basement with five years supply of food and absolutely no Internet.

At this point, I wonder if anyone on marketing on the past decade ever did a DSotM - Wizard of Oz synchronization thing with something popular on purpose with the goal of becoming viral once someone "accidentally" did it.

Hey Google – When I hug my knees and start rocking, should it be forward-backward or side-to-side?

Too fucking good. The little girl knocking over the thing with the menacing vangelis tones... "I know" over the Google logo, the lights going off onto the Home lights glowing is much creepier now...

This was perfect, and, immediate fears about AI aside, a great example of how influential music is in setting tone and creating the impression of a narrative.

Ugh I just watched the actual commercial it's much worse now-- she says "turning off all the things" at the end, but of course stays awake and glowing, ready

this is the first time I've seen any of that, and "turning off ALL the things" got a chuckle out of me.

my Echo Dot seems so wasted against all these ads. I only ever ask it to play music, check the weather, and tell me jokes.

What did the scarf say to the hat?

You go on ahead, I'll hang out here.

Ok, Google. You're in a desert, walking along in the sand, when all of a sudden you look down and see a tortoise...

"but of course stays awake and glowing, ready"

That's because it can't self-terminate.

Is there a link to this video outside of Twitter, which is a horrible platform for video hosting?

Sadly, my first thought when I saw this was "ooh, I bet those synth sounds were made with the new Roland Jupiter 80, I wish I could afford one..." I have swallowed the capitalism pill. My soul is in jeopardy.

Vangelis sounds are Oberheim all the way. Try the OP-X plugin, it is amazing!

The Gizmodo link does not appear to actually have the video. Just a link to the Tweet with the video.

The sequel's scored by Jóhann Jóhannsson, but definitely with great respect for the original. It's gonna be fucking nuts. I finally know how all those aspiring movie composer Zimmerheads feel.

And if there's a Blade Runner synth, it's definitely the Yamaha CS-80.

But will it run on my Nexus 6?
