Repairing an oriental rug

A small dog chewed the corner of conradcourtney's 1950 Saruk rug, so s/he set to fixin' it. (Slimgur) Here's a YouTube channel of a rug repair shop from British Columbia. Wikipedia's Oriental rugs article is great .

What an amazing job.

Our family just, you know, keeps using the things. There was a period of time in which we knew when we'd gotten particular books and chairs because the corners had been eaten, so it had to have been the year Scout was a puppy. More recently, a couch was reduced to a single intact cushion (due again to puppyhood) before matters were rectified. We still sat on it. It was a pretty good couch, and it had been through a lot already.

The repair is so good it's almost unbelievable. The knot for the inline warp splicing seems impossibly small. Just amazing.

Truly magnificent. Life-affirming. Maybe I'm in a weird mood but I almost cried.

Holy crap, that is impressive. Makes me just a little more embarrassed by my repair of my rug with black duct tape...

I like the picture with all the knots in place, but before the shave -- it looks like that corner of the rug got smudged or exploded somehow.

Life-affirming.

I know what you mean! It's like, seeing something that is so obviously broken beyond repair made whole again has shifted my view of what's possible. Maybe things aren't hopelessly lost!
