The more I know about people, the more I like dogs.

Boxers (not the pugilists) are wonderfully expressive. This one overshoots a ball while chasing it and does a glorious flop worthy of a footballer. Here's one who loses his shit over a lime at the beach. Hannibal didn't appreciate being boarded while his owners travelled and let them know it when they returned. Here, just watch this compilation. [all videos ambient noise only; the lime video has loud, helpless laughter]

(Boxers previously)

I'm not saying that OP has a pro-boxer bias, but it seems pretty obvious he thinks that all boxers are good dogs.

He's right, of course.

That first pup hinting at the pizza is one well-behaved pup.

OH THANKS. The ball in the video squeaked and the squeaky ball obsessed Boxer who has cancer and sleeps like she's dead sprung off the couch and raced to the kitchen because SQUEAKYBALL IS LIFE. I laughed and fast forwarded the video and now I have two 35kg Boxers throwing themselves at the front door at 2:30 am BECAUSE YES WE SHOULD GO FOR A WALK WHAT KIND OF QUESTION IS THAT?

Here, just watch this compilation

Would you say that this assemblage of brief videos is a collection of boxer shorts?

I grew up with boxers and love them, but wow are they dumb as a bag of dumb. I watched one walk straight into a wall. Not because she was distracted. She was looking straight at the wall and banged her sweet idiot head and gave it the most hurt and betrayed look before barking at it.

My parents tell stories of their previous boxers eating whole tubes of toothpaste, an entire sofa down to the frame, and a collection of vinyl records.

And yet they kept getting boxers, so I guess the stupidity is infectious.

Walking into walls reminded me of another brachycephalic dog.

I dunno, I've had a lifetime of Boxers and I would say that it's a minority that are idiots. One of ours now is pretty dumb; she gets up and forgets why, so you have to call her multiple times. Or she goes outside and needs to be reminded that she's there to wee. Or she sits on a chair and cries because she's forgotten that if she goes to the door, we'll let her out. She is startled by her own foot. She falls asleep sitting up. She forgets her name.

She has all the symptoms of geriatric senility except she's always been this way. She's genuinely just dumb. She makes the other one look like a genius.

All our other Boxers have been bright enough. Big vocabularies, excellent recall, brilliant baby minders. Bright or derpified, I think they are just excellent family dogs. They are all so different and their personalities bring so much to a home. I love them. I get that they shouldn't exist, but as long as they do we'll keep taking them in and falling in love.
