The app! It does nothing!

Binky is an app that aims to rid you of the worst part of every social media platform: people. Binky is a ruse, a Potemkin-Village social network with no people, where the content is fake and feedback disappears into the void.

Anyway I disagree completely with the article's thesis. I wish my friends and family would go back to producing content because I am fans of them and I want to know what they think. I guess that's an unpopular opinion these days, most people hate everyone they know it seems.

"the smartphone’s victory in standardizing the mechanics of idle effort" is really a perfect way to put it.
I can think of plenty of times when interacting with others has seemed like too much effort, even the low-cognitive-demand like/dislike/reblog version of effort. I generally just lurk during those times though, or play Blendoku.

Binky is not just as satisfying as “real” social apps like Twitter or Instagram, but even more satisfying.
Is this literally so? Because it sounds to me like the kind of grouchy hyperbole equivalent to “(my two-year-old/a gorilla in a zoo somewhere) can paint better than that”, or “the ‘music’ kids these days listen to is just noise”. You can't substitute any random noise for, say, nu-metal or Nickelback or some other popularly derided music and get the same result from those who listen to it, and paintings made by a toddler or gorilla aren't substitutes for Jackson Pollock.
