Cat-Scan.com is one of the strangest sites I've seen in some time. I have no idea how these people got their cats wedged into their scanners, or why.

The wikipedia entry for "Image scanner" includes an inaccurate photo.
They've placed a rhino on the scanner, rather than a cat. We should see to it that this error is corrected, and our collective honor restored.

As a result of too much time in POTUS45 threads, all I can think of is the places you've been to already: 18 years span the Clinton impeachment, the Florida recounts, Bush v. Gore, 9/11, the Afghan embroilment and the Iraq war, the full run of Bush-isms, Sarah Palin, the Whitey tape, the 47%, the hunt for the birth certificate, Benghazi!!!, but her emails, and now, a little light treason.

Wow. Eightteen years. Back then I had a boring job, a neurotic wife, the domain name oneswellfoop.com and undiagnosed heart disease. I got user number 206, "wendell" for my longtime semi-professional pen name. But when I made my first post here, mathowie made a comment calling me "foopster". I was fairly proud to have survived to the 10th anniversary, but maybe that was the antidepressants talking. But this is still my Primary Home on the Web because nobody has figured out how to do it better. And that's good for MetaFilter (and sad for the Web).
By the way, I'm still paying $10 a year for the domain name metalifter.com... I should set up a proper re-direct or just gift it to MetaFilter Network Inc., shouldn't I?

I've been on Metafilter for several years and I never bothered to actually look at any of the cat scans and I was shocked to discover that it actually IS one of the strangest sites I've seen in sometimes and I actually DO NOT KNOW how these people got their cats wedged in their scanners.

We should be clear that the current catscan site was made by cortex, for the 12th anniversary, because the original catscan site had been lost to domain squatters. So these scanned cats (one of them is mine!) aren't the original 1999 scanned cats, and the dorky animated '90s background is just a historical re-creation by a qualified old internet person.

I agree, knownassociate. Cats are famously discreet about their genitals, and would never put them in direct contact with a human visual input device, whether computational or corporeal.
