DRUNKEN TRUCKER SCHOOL

I remember when you didn't need a degree to operate an eighteen-wheeler while completely blitzed.

Not an error, though. There really is a bit in UXM #531 where The Collective Man tries to collect protection money from a store full of drunken truckers.

It occurs to me that drunken trucker sounds like something you'd hear on the TV edit of a movie, e.g. Yippie ki yay, drunken trucker.

My company thinks that "allxmen.com" is an inappropriate site for me to be browsing during the workday. I mean, they're not wrong, but.

Not only is there an icon for every character but several for the same character. It's not clear what the criteria are for re-drawing.

It appears that a costume change is the criterion. Cyclops has 3 within the first 12 issues, all with small detail changes. Mystique has two in the same issue, one as classic blue Mystique, and one as whoever she was imitating.

Ha, same just happened to me and I came here to say the same thing.

Clicking on a character shows you the progression of costume changes, and/or allied & associated characters.

Looks like either the site got crushed right before I clicked on it, or Wanda made another one of her no-more-mutants wishes.

It's gonna get ugly once the drunken truckers and the melon farmers discover that they have common goals. Mister Falcon will not be pleased when he gets back from the Alps.

Ah, Kitty, who had so much trouble settling on a codename and look... Where's the one where she was actually turned into a cat-woman? Or was that technically a New Mutants plotline?

booo on having the text in the image so you can't search in the page - otherwise.... wicked insane ocd

Clicked on Storm to see the character progression and it took me a second to work out why from #253 to #271 the icons were 3/4 size; Nanny and Chris Claremont's creepy infantilisation schtick.

Took me ages to get to the one where Cecilia Reyes got a X-Men uniform 9which I remember because she was NOT happy about it) and I never did find Chamber. But then, I guess he's Generation X. Some of his fellows make it in, but not him.

You may be thinking of the Magik miniseries.

Scott also drew my daughter Adora as a Pez Head in November 2013, as part of her Art project :)

Gotta love Goblin Prince Havok (in UX#242) being one of the only dudes to fall into the Evil Version Wears Skimpier Clothes trope. And Forge's 80's Tight Shirt and Short-Shorts in UX#184. And Pirate Pyotr (UX#153).

Also I forgot about how Mr. Sinister = Syn + N'astirh.

No color palette can cover Sprite in UXM #149 sufficiently.

Don't know what it is that makes this kind of stylized/abstract superhero renderings so satisfying.

I figured it was costume changes but someone like Charles Xavier doesn't have a costume as such, so what if he's wearing a green suit versus a grey one? Will his icon change when his wheelchair becomes a floating one? And then when he's walking again with a cane in New X-Men.

No, but they did cover 3 of the costumes she created in UXM 157, though not all, and they missed the opportunity to show her in the Phoenix getup.

Reminds me of the time a comic book I ordered got intercepted and searched by customs officers. It was Iron Fist.

Off the top of my head the only time Kitty dressed as phoenix was in an issue of excalibur, and this project is unfortunately only the main line and not the six+ spinoffs, some of which had great alternate costumes that didn't appear in the main title.

In the late 1980s the main team faked their own deaths right after really dying, so dazzler, longshot, and half of the early 1980s team(Storm, Wolverine, Colossus) were gone; the original five had accidentally formed a secret anti-mutant hate group and were recruiting child soldiers in honor of professor X (who was in space with his bird girlfriend and Scott's dad) in X-Factor; and the other half of the early 1980s team (Kitty, Nightcrawler) were hanging out in london watching captain briton do shots in a lighthouse in Xcalibur. All three of these teams had a different Phoenix, but only two were jean grey, and neither of those was as good at being phoenix as not-jean. Wolverine disappeared to do some irrelevant anime shit every time anyone blinked. The new mutants went to not-quite-hell a lot.

Comics are neat.

Signal was making reference to how, in UX157, Kitty used a Shi'ar costume-maker to disguise herself as Dark Phoenix as a diversion to freak out the Shi'ar.

The magic of the internet in 2017 allowed me to see on my computer that apparently Spiral appeared in eveningwear in #209, grab a tablet on my desk, pull up that issue in Marvel Unlimited, attempt to read it, AND be reminded at how inscrutable Chris Clairemont's X-Men can be when you pick it up at a random issue all while having a 30 pound human being asleep on my chest.

Oh yeah! I forgot about that.

> how inscrutable Chris Clairemont's X-Men can be when you pick it up at a random issue

I'm reading all of them, in order, and it's still kind of inscrutable sometimes. I'm up to Inferno in 1988 and every bad thing anyone has ever said about crossover events is true.
