Wooowww!

I saw this yesterday and the A/V editor in me wanted to be critical of how sort of choppy and rough it is but the person-who-giggles-at-stuff part of me just sort of giggled over the A/V editor because the concept is pure and worthy and we are lucky to get even a glimpse of it.

This feels kinda nitpicky, but I'm disappointed I can still hear the regular lightsaber sound. :(

Yeah, my response to this was essentially that it was charming, which is a bit out of fashion these days outside of things contrived specifically to be charming.

(I almost said "real" lightsaber sound)

Well, the sound effects used in the original films are, in fact, the real lightsaber sounds. The sounds were created with excellent artistry and skill by Ben Burtt. Just because they were added in post-production doesn't make them any less 'real'. Lightsabers are real, too. They were real props, waved around by real actors in real movies, at least up until 1983 or so.

I didn't think that either of these videos were particularly funny. But then I'm old, and I think it is the children who are wrong.

I couldn't hear it but I was sort of hoping they'd sneak an Ed-Norton-As-Owen-Wilson-Wow in there...

Sadly I recognize some of those "wows" from way too many viewings of Cars.

"(i almost hugged you for almost saying "real" lightsaber sounds.)"

When the prequels came out in 1999, there were a bunch of interviews about how they had to keep asking Ewan McGregor (and maybe a couple other actors too) to stop making his own lightsaber sounds when doing fight scenes. Because they dressed you like a Jedi and handed you a light saber, OF COURSE you're going to make the noises!

The timing of this and the most recent Flophouse podcast is fortuitous.
