Ha, that's a lovely story. I'd know a little bit about Ruth-Aaron numbers from somewhere—maybe in the (very readable, pick up a copy!) Erdős biography The Man Who Loved Only Numbers, but it's cool getting a personable horse's-mouth account of the details from Pomerance like this. (Clearly Jessamyn and I will have to revisit this in a few decades when we get to MeFi podcast episodes 714 & 715.)
