weezer= best.show.ever, even though the sound went out.

nothing like an entire crowd singing "no one else" when rivers' mic was dead.

they're gonna be here in a week (with pete yorn, even!) i'm still trying to finagle tickets.

thanks for the link. :)

i've seen weezer 3 times since their resurrection. the first was at a tiny club in mesa, arizona. 150 people crammed into a 30x30 outdoor fenced-in area with the stage taking up a fourth of the area. incredibly intimate, lots of fun. second time was that same summer, at the warped tour. huge crowd, tiny song set.

skip to this past fall, with jimmy eat world and tenacious d. arena venue, nice long set, lots of cool effects.

never paid more than 20 bucks for a ticket. now, all of a sudden, i get to pay 35 bucks to see weezer with pete yorn. that's without the ticketmaster charge.

now, i'm a huge, huge weezer fan. i have first prints of each of their albums, the customary shirts and posters, wonderfully intricate designs on rivers' psyche and the effects it has on his songs and albums--the works--but i really just can't bring myself to pay over 40 bucks to see weezer in concert. not even for the flying, flashing =W=

(i will shell out for the new album in a few days, though)

carsonb: I know what you mean. Skipping on them when they came to the UK recently was really really hard. But that's life.

I'd also just like to note how damn cool weezers offical site, weezer.com is. Especially the A/V section, demo's on the web the day after recording? Yes please.

you can get all the mp3s for the new album (and what i think is the cover art) here:
http://www.weezur.com
click on the link for maldroit on the bottom.

best of all, from everything i've read rivers seems to think dowloading their songs for free is fine with him and the rest of the band.

Screw mp3s... they have MIDI files on the weezer.com site.

Wow, if I'd known that I could declare my site to be news, I would have done it a long time ago.

just got back from seeing them not 20 minutes ago. I love how weezer can bring the indie and emo kids together, even if it's just for one night.

I would agree, if not for the green album and the subsequent embarassment weezer has been since.

Haha, what a coincidence Waldo. When I first saw the thread I was going to post a comment that nancies.org was my favorite fan site. But I figured I already have enough of a reputation when it comes to Dave Matthews Band and MetaFilter.

Ich.... The new (ie, not yet released) album is a bummer... quite bad. Maybe it will be like Pinkerton, and grow on me, but probably it will be like the green album and just suck.

I thought the green album was alright. It's no blue album, but hey, it wasn't bad either. My only problem with it was that it was so short.
