Previous mentions of Zombo.com.

How is it possible that this didn't come up the preemptive link check?
posted by me3dia at 12:43 PM on May 6, 2002

Yes. Nobody goes there anymore; its too crowded.

In defense of the post, I did see elsewere (cough *fark*), that the one, true zombo.com was back online after having been redirected for a while. Surely that makes it a little newsworthy, right?

"The Unattainable is Unknown! At Zombo.Com!" p.s. buy a t-shirt

I know it's old but I still get a kick out of it. Camworld's trash is my treasure, but I already knew that. =) Though zombo's been mentioned before, it's never been given its own thread in MeFi that I know of, so this isn't technically a doublepost.

I just wish I knew the injoke story that led to someone creating zombo.com. However that would be like trying to explain the joke, which would no doubt ruin the joke. It's not that good of a joke though, so ruining it wouldn't really be all that bad.

If camworld doesn't visit Metafilter anymore, where does camworld go?

Here I go, trying to take all the recent good advice and good vibes from MetaTalk to heart and apply it in practice.

People with questions about zombo.com, and the internet phenomenon it became, may be interested in the zombo.com FAQ page, set up by the folks at 15footstick who apparently first did the thing. They also sell zombo.com t-shirts. Wow, I didn't know that until I went and looked! Thanks for bringing up the topic.

I've asked this before, but will the Metafilter search button *ever* work?
posted by Qubit at 1:21 PM on May 6, 2002

It works pretty well if you restrict yourself to the past month, or just search threads and not comments. At least, that's my experience.

Ah, so you must be camworld's posting bot. Say hello to Cameron when you check in with him next.

It's too bad we're all not as worldly and jaded as thou art Cam. Funny, there are two links on the current front page of camworld that *I* think are pretty old hat. The GWB "Ring" pic went around at least a month ago and cats in libraries thing is freakin' ancient in web terms.

Condemning your whole site on this basis would be asinine though, wouldn't it? Please use the same discretion here. The thing *I* am most tired of here at MeFi is people who see a link that's old and just HAVE to chime in with their bleating protestations. If you've already seen it move on to the next one and shut the hell up! I doubt many of us care that you're so cool that this is old to you...

People. Despite my best (okay, meager) efforts, there is, in fact, already a MetaTalk thread about this thread (I was seven minutes too late on the "good vibes" quip). As I thought was discussed ad nauseam lately, that would be the proper place to discuss anything other than the post itself, or things about the post itself.

in a world of useless sites, zombo is too mediocre to even make the top ten.
