Three furries save lives in deadly multi-vehicle crash in England.

On Saturday, September 16, a highway accident killed four and hospitalized three in South Gloucestershire, in the south west of England. A truck suffered a tire blowout and lost control. It crossed into the oncoming lane, demolishing cars and a motorbike before landing in a ditch. Three witnesses were in a car 30 seconds behind the crash. They rushed to help at a traumatic scene. Kids were pulled from a car on fire, while rescue crews were stuck in traffic.

I'm annoyed they didn't do it in full fursuit, but seriously, that fake fur shit is made of plastic and would just melt to your skin.

This post was deleted for the following reason: Good on these folks for the brave action, but as a single link thing, this is a bit thin for an FPP. -- taz

Furries on the Crystal Maze as well this week ("cosplayers"). They were rubbish and only got two crystals but well done for getting out there.

It seems like the response to this awful crash from many of the motorists caught up behind it was exemplary. There had been. by the way, another fatal incident on that same stretch of road a couple of days before, although it wasn't reported, as far as I know, whether any furries were involved in that.

I'm reminded of the cliché one would sometimes hear toward the tail end of BBC news bulletins: "a Foreign Office spokesman said that no Britons were among the dead," as though the avalanche or helicopter crash or volcanic eruption were a less important matter if no members of ones own tribe were involved in it, or, conversely, a more important one if they were. Now that transnational tribes have news networks of their own I suppose it's no surprise to see reports like the one in the post or "it's feared one otherkin was injured" or "two bronies were among those rescued", etc.

Geek social hierarchy be damned, the furry community is awesome.

I think that is mostly an attempt to anticipate calls from every family and friend of everybody who was in the country where the disaster struck.

If this happened in the States, there would no doubt be remarks about how "Americans" always come through for each other in a disaster, as if the desire to help others is just one more thing that makes this the Greatest Country Ever.

No, no, only Brits do that. It's the Blitz Spirit.

That doesn't explain the "three Britons are reported to be among the missing/injured" statements when that's the case. That'd practically encourage the exact panic you're claiming they want to avoid.
