Stowe House
Location: Kilkhampton
County: Cornwall
Year demolished: 1739
Reason: Insufficient wealth / end of family line
Does a house that was demolished nearly 300 years ago really qualify as "lost"?

Well, yes, unless someone has gone and found it again, like a Cornish Brigadoon.

This is a great resource. I knew that the 1950s house I grew up in was on the edge of the grounds of a demolished manor house, and that our front wall was the estate wall - but I never knew that there were any pictures of it, and there it is as one of the houses on that list with pictures.
