"we are a talented bunch. We are also diverse"

Edward Enninful is the new Editor-in-chief of British Vogue. His first cover girl, Adwoa Aboah is also a founder of Gurls Talk.

Naomi Campbell has spoken about her hopes for a more diverse Vogue.

Previous editor Alexandra Shulman criticised Campbell:

Naomi had more covers than any other model, other than Kate Moss, during the time that I was on Vogue.”

Is Shulman sure? “I can’t think of another model who had more. Something like eight.” I tell her Natalia Vodianova appeared on eight of Shulman’s covers, and Gisele Bündchen 11. “Really? British Vogue? I can only remember two. I’ve got a terrible memory.” Campbell made the cover just five times.

Racked describes Shulman's comments as "a case study in white privilege."

I just read that Guardian article today and it was like playing White Privilege Bingo with some of her statements. I couldn't even be mad at her, she is just so obviously clueless and sheltered. If I were to be optimistic, I would say she's just in that critical point where if she were to drop her fears and her armour, and really LISTEN to people, she might have a chance to grow.

But rather than focus on her, I will say that I haven't bought a British Vogue in YEARS and last week I walked up and down the high street in search of this issue (surprisingly difficult!) and I'm really looking forward to seeing and BUYING more.

My friend designed the scarf that Adwoa Aboah is wearing on the cover! Exciting on multiple fronts.

Omigosh, is this where I can post Enninful's new Pirelli calendar with an all-black recasting of Alice in Wonderland? Because I have been looking at those images all day and they are so amazing. If this is a message about where British Vogue might go, I may have to blow my "guilty pleasures" budget on an international subscription.

Oops, here's a better link to Pirelli's website which has more images, but spells Duckie Thot's name wrong.

If that's what he can do with the Pirelli calendar, I can't wait to see where he takes British Vogue. Congrats Edward, may your reign be long and fruitful!
