This photo (graphic photo of a dead Palestinian man being probed by a robot) brought a thought to mind. And a strange trip around the inter-galaxy ensues (perhaps not too terribly safe for work). (more inside)

This post was deleted for the following reason:

I couldn't help but recall the scene in Star Wars when Obi Wan was attempting to shut off the tractor beam and used The Force to distract the stormtroopers and immediately upon discovering nothing was amiss they broke into freeform dialogue. "Have you seen the new XP38's" one says to the other (only if you listen real close). The two Israeli soldiers in the background reminded me of the conversational stormtroopers. (of course I'm not at all insinuating that they were even talking to one another and that if they were, that it was even in the neighborhood of "How's your family these days Steve?")

In an attempt at a brilliant MeFi caption for the photo, I discovered some pretty sick minded Star Wars inspired art.

Interesting how these things dovetail.

Excuse me. Israeli police it appears, not soldiers.

Am I picky or is this post uninteresting and plainly bad taste?

Crossing real war drama with an obscure Star Wars blunder...

I mean, my imagination could be weirder than yours, but for me, IMHO, this was totally unnecessary.

You didn't see the clear connection between a dead guy and Betty Rubble's racka sackin racka frack?

I think it's one of those gestalt things: the image of the two soldiers policemen silhouetted against the light reminded him of an image from the film. I've had moments like that, where a particular memory location is triggered strongly by some event. But try to explain the experience to others, and they usually don't understand.
