the matter of false confessions

As soon as they start pushing an interrogation into a predetermined answer, as opposed to the truth, the outcome is inevitable. Of further interest, False Confessions.

I am always struck by how so many people wanted Amanda Knox to be guilty and argued "but she confessed" as the beginning and the end of the matter. She was exonerated, but unfortunately this phenomenom applies to many more who get nowhere near the interest and press she did.
