It's basically about the weiner dog

Earlier this year, Southern California-based sister band Haim released a video for their single "Want You Back," which demonstrated an effortless sort of swaggery cool. The video inspired parodies, most of which only highlighted how well done the original was: Some are very (intentionally?) bad. Some are bad, but earnest. Some are brief, but endearing. And one, featuring a weiner dog who transcends time and space, is very, very good.

More about the original video's origin story here. And if you're not sick of hearing the song by now, why not sing along?

Laughed every single time Shadowfax the wiener dog went tearing through the frame. Every. Time.

All these made me smile in fact.

The "brief, but endearing" one maybe most, because I love watching people do fun, silly, earnest stuff with their friends. I think of how they connected, how they grew together through that little project, and I'm glad for them.

I spent an inordinate amount of time trying to track Shadowfax's location and ensure that he/she was in fact obeying the laws of time and space.

Verdict: magic dog.

I have never once heard of or encountered Haim outside of their two SNL appearances so it's kind of interesting to see there's this whole thing of parodying one of their videos.

Further proof that there is no such thing as a YouTube production that won't be improved with the addition of a dachshund.

Here's hoping we see Shadowfax videobombing other videos, or even ads! Meow Mix, ideally.

I watched that, and all I could think of was, hey, that's Ventura Boulevard. Then I wondered why I knew that when I had never lived in the Valley. Weird.

I was scrolling through looking for the wiener dog and couldn't find it, so I started wondering if these three guys were just a band or trivia team or comedy troupe called Shadowfax the Wiener Dog.

I've heard of Haim but never listened to anything from them with full attention. That's a pretty good song! * adds to Spotify *

I've heard this song a few times and it's pretty catchy, plus these are nice feel-good vids. Good show!

Did you really just trick me into watching those dudes do a dull remake of that video just to see 4 seconds of wiener dog?

SPOILER: IT'S BASICALLY NOT ABOUT THE WIENER DOG AT ALL AND YOU CAN'T EVEN SPELL "WIENER" RIGHT

That song is insanely catchy. I'd heard of Haim because they were (are?) part of Taylor Swift's girl squad so they show up on fashion blogs, but I don't know that I'd ever actually *heard* Haim.

Haim's debut album, Days Are Gone, is superb.
