This post was deleted for the following reason: Yeah, well-intentioned but this is pretty thin. A meaty post on the history of high-traction footwear would be pretty cool though. -- cortex

You may be weary of taking a knife to your favorite pair of boots

Indeed, I'm tired of doing it over and over again; to the point that I am now wary of doing so again.

Apart from that, other than the slip-on ice grips suggestion, this is a pretty weak listicle.

On reading it again, I agree with you Greg.

Eds, please feel free to delete my post.

I live in Maine. I wear boots that have tread. Considering having studs installed, like my snow tires.

I had never heard of the idea of mixing salt and glue, or gluing sand on. Does that actually work?

Also, spray-on traction was new to me.

Far from being weak sauce, four out of seven ideas were things I had never even considered. Admittedly, my boot solution is "go to cobbler, have cobbler put rubber grippy layer on boot", but that costs money.

Honestly the best solution is to be one of those Legolas-ass bird people I see running down icy sidewalks in Chuck Taylors every winter.
