Ain't it the Truth? Metallica's new CD... coming soon to Napster!

I think Metallica's actions re: Napster are totally boneheaded. Especially in light of the fact that this is a band that developed its following via word of mouth and without the aid of traditional distribution/promotional/marketing vehicles like radio play or videos. Its like they're are turning on their fans. Do they really think that they are losing record sales to napster users? (How much land does a man need?) I'd be willing to bet that 75% (at least) of the folks whose screen names have been banned from Napster following Metallica's legal actions own metallica albums. And now, folks who may have been curious about metallica (maybe after seeing the MI2 ads or their new video) will not be able to test drive the songs before deciding to buy the cd.

Fukk Metallica. That Lars Ulrich is a whiney little self-important loudmouth. I was never really a "fan" but I had a certain amount of respect for the band and their legion of dedicated fans. Now I just feel badly for their fans who must be wondering who these short-haired, money-grubbing jerks are...

Metallica is getting ridiculed more and more everyday. I'd be lying if i said i didn't see it coming a mile away. I'm actually very, very surprised that they would even try this. As a former Metallica fan, i jsut dont get it. It used to be about the fans and the music. Now, i don't know what it's about anymore. Lars says it's about "control"? i don't buy it. It's about the money. It's about people getting your art for free. I understand it must be frustrating, but accusing 300,000 of you fans of stealing is not the way to go.
