I was watching Fraiser this morning.

This Twitter post has a quote from Mahoney explaining why he got into acting late in life.

I know there will be a lot of reminiscing over Frasier, but I wanted to highlight Mahoney's scene in Moonstruck with Olympia Dukakis. He's so good in it: a little pathetic, but still holding on to a quiet dignity. RIP.

I should have included this biography from the Steppenwolf Theatre:

John Mahoney has been a Steppenwolf Theatre Company ensemble member since 1979. Most recent theatre appearences include The Herd, The Seafarer, I Never Sang for My Father (Steppenwolf Theatre Company); The Outgoing Tide, A Life (Northlight Theatre); Prelude to a Kiss (Broadway) and Romance (Almeida Theatre). He has appeared in more than 30 Steppenwolf Theatre Company productions. He received a Tony Award for his performance in The House of Blue Leaves. Film credits include Moonstruck, Tin Men, Say Anything, Primal Fear, Barton Fink and, most recently, Flipped. On television Mahoney starred in Dinner at Eight, H.E.L.P., The Human Factor and Frasier.
