Yes, it is. See the URL, particularly the bit that says "landoverbaptist.org"? That's your first clue.

"Just because the Lord God courted and wooed Mary when she was 12, doesn't give every little nubile pre-teen the license to spread her legs"

Yh, it's a joke (a fine one at that - for agnostics/atheists, and theists with senses of humour)

Actually few people know about Landover Baptist... I didn't until last August. Granted, it IS rather obvious, or rather it would be if it weren't for some of those fundamentalist churches 'down south'...

Look at this real news. $400 a month tuition in kindergarden? How else can a single mom make that kind of money?

semmi - There are public schools for people that can't afford the kind of religious indoctrination this woman wanted.

There are also churches that will be happy to provide it for free.

Landover is a long running satire site...but the scary truth is, this sort of dogma was taught to women not so long ago.

Seriously, women in the 50's and 60's were discouraged from breastfeeding...as it was seen as potentially sexual, and certainly not something that should ever been seen outside of a bathroom or a bedroom with locked doors.

My mom and I were just recently talking about this issue, because my doctor is recommending breastfeeding when Peanut pops out...and my mom said that it was such a refreshing change from the Catholic hospital where I was born where the nuns told her it was shameful to expose her breast to feed a child. (Nuns, ya know, they're a little weird.)

I told Mom that I thought it was because the doctors and hospital were getting kickbacks for formula. :)

Many developing countries are getting hammered by advertisements by formula producing pharmaceutical companies. There was some sort of misleading advertising case where johnson and johnson had a billboard that said formula was healthier than breast milk.

Dumb.

This is a funny site (I'm a thiest with a sense of humor) and I love the little references to Veggie Tales, one of the funniest kid shows around.

actually, the onion is a real newspaper, printed in Madison, Wisconsin. of course, it's way more fun to read than all of the other 'legit' newspapers.

Not only that, but thanks to the WTO, countries (Brazil comes to mind) that passed legislation enforcing formula/infant food to contain labels stating "Breastmilk is best", had to repeal their laws, or face WTO sanctions...

New World Order indeed.
