I feel like I should say something about this, but I've got nothin' to say I haven't said before.

Well, George Michael's singing isn't that terrible here. Such standards!

I am typically not into covers of songs BUT I can't deny that Lambchop's cover of This Corrosion is the best one there is.

This is a horrible, horrible thing and I hope everyone involved knows they are horrible people.

Ok, but now do it with Busta Rhymes "Gimme some more".

or I mean whatever Hype Williams video you like

Well this was a disappointment. Apparently there is something called Lambchop that isn't a puppet.

If this is wrong I don't want to be right.

What a fraud, I was totally looking forward to a children's show lamb sock puppet singing This Corrosion. Dreams crushed.

I too was really hoping for the other Lambchop :(

It's not? Oh. Okay.

Every time I listen to anything from Floodland I'm always reminded of how much Andrew Eldritch hated the production on First and Last and Always, and I laugh.

"This Corrosion" is still one of Jim Steinman's finest works – yes, the man who wrote "Total Eclipse of the Heart" and Celine Dion's classic "It's All Coming Back To Me Now" was the producer of several Sisters of Mercy tracks, and was the guy behind that awesome massive choir. Given the fact that "This Corrosion" was pretty clearly supposed to be a snide rip on Wayne Hussey for being bombastic and awkward with words, I guess it really works in the mouths of Wham.

Floodland is one of the greatest albums ever, and Eldritch and Steinman together kills so hard.

Additionally, speaking of Wayne Hussey, I refuse to believe that these are not actual Mission lyrics.

"This Corrosion" could have been a Meatloaf song? Now I've heard everything.

Jim Steinman is pretty much the original motorcycle goth, so, yeah, it kinda makes a bunch of sense.

If George Michael came back and covered This Corrosion it would be a real step up for 2018.

I honestly don't remember This Corrosion being this unrelentingly upbeat and poppy. (I mean, just the song, not the Wham! edit itself.)

This means I should probably think about some of my current musical choices.

Anyway, I was always more into Tones On Tail over Love and Rockets.

Postpunk.com: "Sisters of Mercy frontman Andrew Eldritch made his vision thing a reality by enlisting Hip Hop legends Public Enemy to go on tour together, along with post-punk legends Gang Of Four, hard rock band Warrior Soul, and rap group Young Black Teenagers for 1991’s “The Tune In, Turn On, Burn Out” tour."

So, in a similar vein, I feel the need to share this cover version of Bjork's "All is Full of Love", as performed by the Mayekawa HAMDAS-R robot ham deboning machine (dropbox link to SLmp4 because YouTube won't host it because copyright).

I think you'll agree that these are much more realistic robots than Bjork's co-stars!

And it's got so much going on. Choir, hard rock guitars, a harpsichord(?). It's maximalist production for sure. No one was able to make goths dance to a saxophone solo like the Sisters used to. Sigh.

I'm just playing along with the spirit of the Youtube post - Opening titles and all that.

George Michael's lip syncing is abysmal at points, though. Totally phoned in!

My favourite (semi) related cover: Confide in Me, by Sisters of Mercy. Oh, and Baby Got Back, by Rasputina. Poor audio and video in both cases, and yet so excellent.

The humor in the video can not make up for the massive disappointment of learning that there really was no Wham! cover of This Corrosion, or one by the beloved hand puppet either.

I'm sorry, I lasted 30 seconds before I realized that I could have been watching the original, what with Patricia Morrison and all, and now I'm in my happy goth place.
