Seven pages of fabulous photos. The Bored Panda link gives you seven pages of large-scale photos. This next link is to the official Sony page which has galleries of the winners, but not as large as the BP ones. However, Sony has the info on the exhibition opening in April in London. Sony Photo Page

Some of these are truly the amazing, once-in-a-lifetime shots that every photographer dreams of getting. Some of them, though, are the kind of shots that I scroll past by the dozen on Instagram. That's not to say that they aren't good pictures or that they didn't require craft and skill to produce, but they aren't hard to come by. There so many people out there with cameras now, documenting the world and searching out interesting compositions and lighting, that there is a massive glut of good photography.

The fundamentals of photographic theory aren't hard to grasp if you care to research a bit, and it's easy to put them into practice, see the results, and use the feedback to get better and better. There are millions of self-taught photographers out there taking good and occasionally truly excellent photos. (I flatter myself that even I have taken the occasional good 'un.) It's hard to know what will rise above the throng. There's just so much good stuff out there these days.
