Minnesota passes internet privacy bill. How enforcable is this? How long before other States follow suit? Many questions. Same story on Yahoo.

The bill text, and subsequent amendments, can be found here. The legislature in Maine tried something similar during the last session, but it didn't get anywhere. I like the penalty section of the Maine one: "Violation of this chapter is an unfair trade practice as prohibited by Title 5, section 207. Each unsolicited commercial e-mail transmission to a recipient constitutes a separate violation." [bold is mine] Wow, that could've tied things up in court . . . .

yep. the check is in the mail, he'll still respect you in the morning, and this will put the consumers in the driver's seat.
