I was hungry for more info on the process but the article omits the details of the most difficult part: the creation of the masks. Yes, in fact I Would Like To Know More

Dye Transfer: The Ultimate Color Print
Dye transfer was made famous by photographer William Eggleston, whose Red Ceiling photograph wouldn’t have nearly the impact it had if it had been printed by any other method.
Kodak, unfortunately, stopped making the materials and chemicals for dye transfer in the 1990s. However, a guy in Vermont has managed to recreate the process. (There’s also a studio in Germany that does the process). If you don’t have tens of thousands of dollars to spend to hire them to make your prints, you can download the instructions for the process and do it in your own home! (An advanced chemical engineering degree and/or significant photo lab experience would probably be helpful).
