How she's doing those triplets on the kick drum when she can barely reach the pedal is beyond me...

So many times, kids in the "prodigy making music" videos look like somebody is holding their puppy hostage off-camera. Not this kid. She looks like she's having a freaking blast. Totally loose and grooving, happy to be there.

I love how she has to stand up to choke the crash.

Ladies and gentleman, reincarnation is confirmed. This is John Bonham.

Besides all that, I love how she keeps hitting the cymbal to her right without so much as a glance at it.

My new fave drumming move is this dual-crash-cymbals-behind-your-head thing

Holyfuckingshit!
How can that not be one of the tags? Damn but hot damn that was beautiful.

This is great. I have a new thing to trot out next time my friends dump on me for listening to Led Zeppelin.

If she's metal, she needs kittens.

I'll be honest, I don't really care for Zep (the wailing, oh god the wailing), but Bonham's drumming was just so, so good. To take such busy, out-there playing and make it so deeply groovy is incredible. And this kid nails it.

Not usually a Zep fan. Happy to make this a caveat.

Holy shit. She's mastered John Bonham's drum triplets. And she's having a blast doing it.

Was having a bad day and feeling pretty glum but holy shit that was the most soul-cheering thing I've watched in a long time. That kid rules.

Goddammit, I really needed to use my face later for work and now I can't because IT'S MELTED OFF.

Those triplets. And she's just... bouncing with glee. Also, sometimes she's standing up because she can't reach the cymbal to choke it. But sometimes she's just so excited that she's just bouncing up off the stool.

My son and daughter have both recently started drum lessons. My son is enjoying it, I suppose, but he's not really feeling the drums, I don't think. He likes the idea of drums. I think, down the road, he's going to end up taking up bass.

My daughter, though, is really loving it. You can tell when they love it, because you don't have to remind them to practice. She does it all on her own. She's not quite up to Bonham yet, but I think she'll get there.

15 years from now I'll be listening to some new tunes, and I'll think to myself, "holy shit, who is that ANIMAL on the drums?" and then I'll realize it's little Yoyoka all growed up.

Honestly, there are a few parts of getting older that really are genuinely fun. That's one of them.

How she's doing those triplets on the kick drum when she can barely reach the pedal is beyond me...

Modern chain’n’spring kick pedals are ridiculously jumpy, and will kind of just do that quick one-footed double-kick thing on their own, particularly if you’re light-footed. I’m honestly more impressed by the solid quarter notes.

(I really mourn my old kick pedal with a simple leather strap. That thing did what it was told.)

Sugoi! This is why I drum, cos I get the same grin when it all comes together.

She can reached the pedal just fine, it looks like she is barely touching it because how you use heel and toe and twist your ankle to pull off triplets without using a double pedal. [yt video on technique]

You have a busy day, getting things dragged forward, against the forces of ineptitude, and it takes a toll.

Starting at 00:45 of this video I was feeling a lot better, watching someone truly enjoy what they were doing.

I'm good for a little while more now. Thanks, kid, keep kicking out the jams.
