I have no idea how these cats got themselves into the water, or why

The two kittens in the Alabama river is one of those videos where I am not only so so glad that they were rescued, but also makes wish for the bajillionth time that I had godlike powers and could horribly punish people who abuse cats.

Like, seriously, my husband and I have the "if you could have one superpower, what would be" check-ins every now and again, and mine is always either that one or teleportation (his is telekinesis).

I am opting for being Dr. Manhattan, able to duplicate myself infinitely, grow to enormous size, resist bullets, travel instantly, etc. The nice thing about this super power is you don't need to choose between "traveling the world rescuing kittens" and "smashing oppression, liberating detention centers, firing Trump into the sun".

I love how laid back those guys on the Warrior River are. They're obviously astonished and charmed, and yet so laconic. "They're twins!" "Are you kidding me?"

That Swedish cat has full cat attitude. "Feh! What are you fuckers looking at?" Stalks off.

I'm sitting here with both of my rescue dogs, so thank you to all of the rescuers.

I love how nonchalant the Swedish cat is. He/she is a ringer for Larry of Downing Street!

could horribly punish people who abuse cats.

As long as the cats don't get to decide because otherwise I'd be dead of horrifically limiting the cats' access to treats.

My cats aren't allowed outside, because coyotes, eagles, and raptors. Still, one of them is bound and determined to get out and chase a bunny. The other day, she ran out, and while trying to escape capture, leapt into the pool, swam out to a floaty, and attempted to climb it. Unfortunately, floaties and claws, well...

I did climb in to rescue her, but oh, how I laughed.

I wonder how the heck they even knew that the cat was under there, for the Swedish one. Maybe doing a remote inspection of the boat with a camera?

The Swedish one, I don't speak Swedish but does "Räddningsaktion" translate as "reenactment"? Did they put the cat BACK down there so they could rescue it a second time for the camera?

elizilla: Goodness gracious, no! It means "rescue operation".

tavella: I've found a video where Stellan the seaman is interviewed on breakfast television, and apparently they got alarmed by hearing loud mews.
