There are plenty of professionals who would have reasons for something like this. Legal claims, investments in companies owned/controlled by someone, and me3dia does have a few ideas too I see. (Let's say you had your eye on a Gauguin in somebody's library.) Spurned lovers ...
For my part, somebody in my family is not speaking to someone else in my family. It's for good reason, unfortunately. So far, we know he's alive, but we'd like to find out when he isn't anymore. There are a couple teachers from high school whose graves I'd like to at least dance on. They have to be getting on in years now.

weird. somebody paid me to write up the beginnings of a business plan that was substantially the same as obitmessenger. he thought that people would really like build a watchlist and get emailed when friends/acquaintences/far-off-family/Celebes kick the bucket.
I told him it would never work.
