Inge Ginsberg performs death metal with her band, the TritoneKings Trümmer "As Ms. Ginsberg grew older, she kept writing lyrics and poetry, and realized she needed to find new ways to reach an audience. How was she going to gain attention in a society where older women are neglected, silenced and often cast off? At age 93, she discovered a solution: death metal, where you can shout your lyrics instead of sing them." Fittingly, the tritone is known as the devil's interval.

I love her attitude. Made me smile throughout the video.

So the article says this isn't technically death metal. So what is it, technically? Speaking asthetically, it's wonderful.

Many years ago now when I was a young punkie cub, we would go to the pub and watch, well let’s call them aspirational, local punk bands. A pint, a racket and like minded people.

The audience was almost entirely barely 18 year olds apart from one man. He wore studded motorbike leathers, had in fact arrived on a large motorbike, always stood by the speakers and was in his late 70’s.

He said that he loved the gigs because he could at last hear the bloody bands!

Inge, I am sure he would join me in a salute. Az men lebt, derlebt men :)

That was terrific! Sounds like singing heavy metal on TV isn't even the most amazing she has done in her life!

And old Ginsberg reading crazy poetry over jarring music you say?

She is amazing! First time on stage with a mic in her hand yet so much presence and charisma? Not just the performance, but the banter with the judges too. I'd be happy to half as cool as her at half her age.

On the question raised about genre, I'm leaning towards hardcore punk (vox-wise)? Whatever, I can dig it.

instrumentally, it's symphonic thrash metal, but vocally, she's somewhere between punk and death - i get bored with genre classifications, the really interesting people don't fit in them and she's one

Re: genre my kids would just call this “rockin music”. I agree wholeheartedly!
