One tribe caught up in Colombia’s armed conflict

“We used to be many here, but now we are few,” he says. “There has been conflict in our ancestral territory for a long time now. It has impacted the community a lot. It has changed the way the younger generation sees things.”

That article did not pull any punches with outside (US) intervention screwed the Siona over worse than a raging civil war had. Definitely not an easy read.

I found Colombia to be an engaging country with a thriving and resistant indigenous population--but I was on the other side of the country and I'm sorry to read that it's so different in Putumayo.
