NO.

I mean, yes.

I mean, I don't even know anymore.

I think I enjoyed both of these but I feel weird about it.

I don't get what all the fuss is about, that's just a video of me and my friends playing DDR in 2005

I am not down for that. I AM DOWN FOR THIS INSTEAD.

this thread makes me remember the Beforetimes, when youtube was not quite yet an algorithm-driven white-supremacist conspiracy hellhole, but more a magical dumb wasteland of inexplicable and silly and wonderterrible mashup videos

also, since we're doing this thing, let's really do this thing (nsfw, unsurprisingly)

I got my first car in 2013. I was in my mid-thirties and had planned on never owning a private vehicle but my wife (then-girlfriend) had just gotten a job that was far enough away that public transportation was impractical and since I knew how to drive and she did not it fell on me to handle the car situation. The car in question was a 1998 Toyota Camry that had belonged to my grandmother who then gave it to my mother when she got a new Camry before my mother passed the Camry to me several years later when my grandmother bought a new new Camry and gave my mother her old new Camry.

By the time I replaced that car earlier this year it was old enough to purchase liquor and had 300,000 miles on it. The air conditioner had stopped working and there was no CD player much less a iPhone port and everything in it felt like it came from some ancient civilization to which I had no connection*.

I tell you this so that you have some insight into why now that I have a relatively new hybrid with an onboard computer and climate control and the ability to make phone calls and a brilliant light-up dashboard I hear A Cruel Angel's Thesis in my head every time my car turns on.

* Except of course that it was mine and it served me well and I loved it and so if one were to ask me what the greatest automobile ever devised by man or god was I would unreservedly say that it was the tan 1998 Toyota Camry.

Since the Bike Horn has already dutifully been contributed by GCU Sweet and Full of Grace, I will put the Seinfeld one, which I'm sure has been linked on MetaFilter before.

That is awesome. Our "new" car was a 2001 Prius, whose AC has also given up working, so when our "old" car, a 1994 Town and Country minivan, handed down to my wife and I from her parents, had more leaks than not, we got a new car in 2014. We tried to tell the dealer we didn't need all those fancy cameras and USB reader ports and blutooth, and were told "those are stock now." OoO

Also, the bike horn orchestra version + animation is the best thing ever. After the first link in the OP, natch.

It may only be a sign of my naivete, but my first thought was that this is unsurprising, because there must be a thousand songs with that beat, or a beat close enough that an undetectable tweak in an editing tool would put it spot on. My second thought was to fantasize about a custom-animated AMV in which the main characters from NGE perform the entire Party Rock Anthem music video. My third thought was about the 1990 Honda Accord that I sold with deep regrets in 2007 and now I'm sad.

HOLY SHIT HOLY SHIT HOLY SHIT HOLY SHIT HOW DID I NOT KNOW ABOUT THIS ALREADY HOLY SHIT

this is all almost making me want to rewatch Evangelion, except for the fact that it's bad and it will make me sad.

Just see what the Eva fanfic world is like these days.

I wish they'd finish the last fucking movie. Fucking Anno.

Party Rock Anthem has the same BPM as the Evangelion Opening and I hate it

CONGRATULATIONS

Also that Gummi Bears is sublime.

I mean BPM-equality is transitive, so is there a Cantina scene video set to the Eva opener?

If the old movie stars vs Uptown Funk mashup teaches us anything at all, it's that the return of the Captain Spaulding move is way past due.

3rd Evangelion movie now delayed indefinitely.

Hold up. Eva 3.0 came out six years ago. The one we've been waiting on is the not-at-all-confusingly-named Evangelion 3.0+1.0. But hey, we got Shin Godzilla during the excruciating wait between movies, so it's not a total loss.

My assumption is that it's just a song that Yoko Takahashi works into her regular concerts. I've heard that Lynda Carter sang some of the songs she performed for Fallout 4 during her most recent tour.

Okay, so today my bf was well into his usual post Sunday Funday watching of random music videos, and because I had favorited this post when it went up, when he started watching the Evangelion opening I was able to pull this up on my phone within 10 seconds and be like "BABY LOOK AT THIS. NO YOU NEED TO PAUSE THAT, THIS IS IMPORTANT." So thanks for giving me that moment.

On the other hand, he found the mashup on YouTube and is now just watching it over and over, so not sure it was a net positive
