Ok I am really into this, but so far the first like 750 well-written words are spent comparing her to God and I can’t stop laughing. What would it be like to read this article about yourself?

I love Caity Weaver and I know this kind of deeply personal descriptive hyperbole-of-the-essence is her jam (remember Taylor Swift sliding herself between the fridge and the wall for the night? The most perfect description of a persona ever written), so. I’m guessing it gets even better from here.

(Also I cannot imagine a piece of writing more tailored to my interests, thank you ellieBOA!)

She is a treasure. She put so much life and energy into her characters on SNL. The link to the "celebrities visit Beyonce and Jay-Z" SNL skit is worth watching. It's perfect.

I had to laugh at this line: "The school Rudolph attended was so white that one of her grade-school friends was Gwyneth Paltrow."

It's like, how much more white could that be? The answer is none. None more white.

Had no idea she was Minnie Riperton's kid.

A very celebrity-preppy school by the sound of it.

“It’s kind of like everybody has a song,” Poehler told me, “and I think Maya’s song is like a really good popular song that will stand the test of time.”

I mean, yes. Her song is Loving You. From the Wikipedia entry:

According to the liner notes from Riperton's compilation album Petals, the melody for "Lovin' You" was created to be a distraction for her baby daughter (Maya Rudolph) so that Minnie and her husband Richard could hang out. Maya was in the studio with Riperton on the day it was recorded and Riperton can be heard singing her daughter's name at the end, but only in the unedited or album version. The song fades out early in the radio edit because the disc jockeys felt that the repeated "Maya" was being overdone and that it would be misunderstood as a religious chant.

I can think of no better Judge of All Space and Time. (She kills as Judge Jen The Good Place)

Just wrapped up S1 of 'Forever' on Amazon Prime. Wow. Rudolph is just amazing--a brilliant performance from season start to finish. This might be the first series that I'll rewatch just to catch the nuances I missed the first time through.

Her performance on the live performance of A Christmas Story last winter was truly memorable.

Seconding this so hard. I watched the entire first season in one night earlier this week because Maya Rudolph is just so damn captivating.

Forever is so good. Maya Rudolph is fantastic in it. Hope it gets some hype or word of mouth — and doesn’t get lost in the sea of 1,000 other streaming shows.

I'm thirding this. It's soooo good. I generally don't care about spoilers, but I'm glad that the trailer was really vague. Avoid any reviews if you can, and just go for the ride. It's just four hours. You can do it!

I definitely was one of those having their mind blown when finding out she is Minnie Rpperton's daughter. When you grow up in the 70s you are very familiar with "Lovin' You" since you probably heard it about a 1000 times on the radio. But Maya Rudolph is the bomb, I absolutely loved her on SNL and in Idiocracy.
