Oooh, Martha's in trouble... Looks like her ex-boyfriend may have tipped her off to some insider information (and subsequently got popped). News of the incident has caused Martha Stewart Omnimedia stock to drop. Not a Good Thing.

The creepiest thing about this is that Alexis Stewart, Martha's daughter, dated Dr. Sam before Martha ever did. There's a photo in one of her books of Alexis and Dr. Sam kissing.

Does "popped" mean arrested? I thought for a minute you were telling me somebody shot him. The dictionary is no help here.

Popped as a slang term is generally accepted to mean arrested. This term is prevalent in informal media.

We just started getting Martha Stewart's TV show on a cable channel here in Japan, so the boom is beginning. She closed a deal with a chain store that carries products endorsed by her. I'm guessing that's her racket. It looks like she's tapped in to homemaker feelings of inadequacy. I always catch my wife watching the program. She says, "I love her, but I hate her." Nobody has kitchens or gardens like that in Japan.

HeeHee. I've never lived anywhere BUT stateside. I'm just older than a lot of people here, and not very hip, in spite of considerable tv watching, including Law and Order. (Perhaps I should put down the Anthony Trollope novel while I'm watching.)

Anyway, to stay somewhat near the topic, while I'm not the world's biggest Martha fan, there is one thing I love about her show -- during the segments when just Martha is cooking (no guest chef), she will invariably talk about how good whatever she's making is going to taste, with an enthusiasm I at least find very sincere and compelling. "This is going to taste So Good."

Oh, New England. Sorry, JanetLand. Thought you were across the pond. Maybe I need to stop watching so much damned TV and get my attention span back. But Martha's on the Food Network drying cake icing with a blow dryer! I can't look away!
