The second article was paywalled - maybe that Twitter-link trick works only once?

(Also is there any connection between lynchings in Brazil and gang violence in Mexico? It seems like there could be productive discussions about either topic, but tying them together just leads to thinking in generalities about murderous "Latin America.")
