She put him a box, going way out west
She didn't realize that the box, it was addressed
The claws came out, they were no match for the tape
So the workers, they made sure he was in fine good shape.
But the cat came back the very next day,
The cat came back, they thought he was a goner,
The cat came back, he just wouldn't stay away.

When Nova Scotia sends its cats, they're not sending their best.
They're not sending you. They're not sending you.
They're sending cats that sneak into boxes.
They're sending cats that come here and freeload off our SPCA.
And some of them, I'm sure, are very good cats.

God damn them all! I was told
We'd cruise the seas for American gold
We'd fire no guns, shed no tears
But I'm a broken cat on a Halifax pier

That is such a cat thing to do. I'm glad Baloo is OK!

Reminds me of the woman flying home at Thanksgiving a few years ago who didn't know her cat had stowed itself away in her carry on bag--the cat went through security screening undetected although the security person did ask, "Do you have a turkey in your carry on? No? All right, proceed". (Cat was OK despite x-ray!) I wish I could find the story again...I think it was on the CBC.

The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down
of the big cat called Baloo kitty kitty
The owner, it's said, shouldn't box up her pet
when the skies of November turn shitty.
With a load of tire rims and a sleepy cat too
in a Purolator truck full of purring
that cardboard box true was a cat toy to be chewed
when the fuzzy little butthead woke early

Purolator takes its name from the oil filter company; it was a subsidiary, once upon a time.

Don’t hide behind the indirection of the Searched for…/Ctrl-F or Came in for… formulations- let your allusions stand bare and unashamed. Be the cheap reference joke you wish to see in the world.

It wouldn't be MeFi without unsolicited advice, but if it was unwelcome, I apologize. Let's get back to filking CanCon about cats in boxes.

Cats do this. Oh, lord do they do this. Nice warm boxes, any kind of enclosure, make them feel safe and cozy, and they tend to settle in and not make a fuss once they realize they're trapped. I was lucky once when I started a dryer that I heard the Very Loud Thumping Noise fast enough and Comma was unscathed.

For big cats you just need refrigerator boxes and such.

I'm surprised they went to the trouble of getting the cat home, free of charge. I work in the shipping industry and imagine a "free cat" sign appearing on our – WAIT… she shipped 4 car wheels to Alberta? By Purolator? There are automotive stores in Alberta, right? Canadian Tire?
